Veterans’ Outreach partnered with a local veterans group at Thanksgiving.

Today, we’d like to share a “Spotlight of the Week” with you.  This originates from our corporate office in Liberty Township, north of Youngstown Ohio.

“Unity is strength, when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”  (Mattie Stepanek)

Veterans’ Outreach partnered with a local veterans group at Thanksgiving.  The group provided huge bags of groceries and a turkey for the veterans that signed up.  That same group also gathered up more totes of groceries and gifts for those same veterans at Christmas.  The bags and gifts were ready to go, we called each participant to alert them that it was time to come by for the pickup.

A veteran named Sylvia that wasn’t a participant was given someone else’s bags of food, turkey, and gifts.  Our office support team realized it after she left.  We called Sylvia, she was very gracious and said she would bring the items back right away.  In the meantime, we felt badly about what had transpired.  One of our office support team members stepped up and said “Hey, when one of our team makes a mistake, we are all in it, and we’ll back her up.”  He then took some cash out of his pocket to give to Sylvia when she returned the food, turkey, and gifts.  Everyone in the office did the same and Sylvia ended up with more cash than the value of what she was returning.
