Veterans Honored Through the Walls of Prison

Today, we want to share a very moving experience that our corporate office staff had through a lunch invitation from a Veteran’s group in a local prison.
Veterans Honored Through the Walls of Prison
These men made some poor choices, whether deliberate or as a product of their environment. Now they are enduring the consequences of those choices. These men have come together to do some good in our community through fundraisers within the prison that benefit local veterans. Our office staff and volunteers were invited to share a catered lunch at the facility yesterday.
Our group was very touched by the work they do to help us help veterans. Our conversations were “cut to the core” honest and deeply moving. We received a gift made with popsicle sticks, toenail clippers, and sandpaper. It’s beautiful and we will display it for our veterans to see.
We left there with the knowledge that even in prison, veterans are deeply appreciated and the community support for our mission is instrumental in our daily duties. We have hope for their futures beyond the gates and bars, and back into society. We have hope that society will give them a chance.
Take a look at the memories of yesterday’s event.

The Patriot Brotherhood Rides for Veterans’ Outreach

The Clubhouse Brewing Company hosted another fund raiser for Veterans’ Outreach with the group called PBMC Tomahawks.

They go proudly by the Patriot Brotherhood…which is only 3 Percent Motorcycle Club.

The rest is RED, White, and Blue! Their goal is to strengthen communities nationwide by reminding them of our solemn duty to honor and respect veterans and first responders of this country.

We visited with them, they couldn’t be more supportive of our mission “to honor and serve” all veterans.  After that event, we now have more volunteers available.

We are looking forward to what we can do together, through the rest of the year and looking forward to their 2nd Poker Run!

Thanks PATRIOTS!

A Decorated Soldier’s Dignity Restored

Today, we are pleased to share a “Case of the Week” from our corporate office located north of Youngstown, Ohio in Liberty Township.
A Decorated Soldier’s Dignity Restored
A young veteran came into our office the other day. He is highly decorated from his service in Afghanistan. He had recently lost his job and had gotten behind on a utility bill that was now shut off. He had called every agency and organization that he could think of, and was turned down for assistance. He was pretty despondent and felt helpless.
He met with Bob, our Services Director. Bob called the utility company, after quite a while, he was able to get them to agree to a payment plan even though the service had been terminated. Normally, when a utility is shut off – there are no payment plans with this provider. We made the first payment for him, and the utility is back on.
This young veteran was so grateful for the help. He really expressed his gratitude for how he was treated here, he left with his dignity restored, a large tote of groceries, and other miscellaneous items.

“Partnering Pays Off for Veteran”

This week, we would like to share a “Case of the Week” from our corporate office north of Youngstown, Ohio in Liberty Township.
Our Services Director received a call from a Veteran Case Manager out of the Akron Ohio area. She was in the process of finding housing for a female veteran with four teen-aged children and two pets. They had been victims of a domestic dispute and found themselves homeless. The caseworker was able to secure housing for them through the HUD VASH Program, but not for a few days.
This meant that the family had nothing and nowhere to go. We were able to secure a hotel stay for the family and pets until the HUD VASH housing would be ready for them. No one had to come into our office due to the distance, everything was handled via phone, fax, and internet.

We are so grateful to be able to partner with agencies, both government and private, that work with us to help veterans all across all of the states that we do business in. We exist to help veterans.
